Mr. Gumpper has over 30 years of experience in regulated laboratory environments including environmental and OTC pharmaceutical laboratories. He has been working full-time as a quality assurance consultant since 1998, writing, implementing, maintaining and assessing laboratory (quality) management systems. Mr. Gumpper has worked both as a consultant and as the named Quality Manager implementing NELAC and ISO 17025 quality systems for laboratories ranging in size from one employee to hundreds of employees.

Recently, his work has included a large component of laboratory assessments, mostly on contract to the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). He is trained and performs assessments for the ISO 17025 Chemistry and Food programs, DoD ELAP, ISO 17043 Proficiency Test Provider and TNI PTP programs, Reference Material Producer program and the ISO Guide 65 Product Certification Body Accreditation program. He is qualified to perform assessments for states for NELAP Accreditation and Drinking Water Certification, as well. He occasionally teaches courses for Assessor Training (Basic, Technical and Refresher Training) and general courses on quality assurance topics.

Mr. Gumpper has been intimately involved in the NELAC process since early 2000, including working with the Conference (later, TNI) on development of standards as well as with the implementation in laboratories of the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP). He also serves as the Part 6000 Coordinator for the Standard Methods organization.

His laboratory work includes extensive experience with Organic Analyses including GC/MS, GC/ECD, GC/FPD, and HPLC/UV. He is familiar with most technologies in use in organic methods and authored the technical portions one of the dominant Assessor Technical Training classes. He has hands on experience with AA, ICP-OES and numerous "wet chemistry" techniques and is familiar with ICP-MS, HPLC-MS, continuous flow instrumentation, basic environmental microbiological methods, and is training on radiological methods.
